The estimator job cost screen allows the estimator to quickly determine the profitability of a job 'on the fly' as they are entering the estimate. Editable fields for labor costs, materials markup and charge rate let the estimator determine the profitability of the job based on new factors. Adjustments can then be factored into the estimate while still ensuring the job remains profitable.
Note: Adjustments made to the values on this form do not change the rates on the estimate! If adjustments to the estimate are necessary, they must be made to the estimate manually.
The 'Labor Cost' field defaults to the value set on the 'Company Information' form. This is the actual value of the labor cost and could be changed for reasons such as if the labor was to be sub-contracted rather than done by 'in-house' crews.
The 'Materials Markup' field defaults to the value set on the 'Company Information' form. This is the amount of markup that is included in the materials costs used to calculate rates on the 'Rates and Settings' form. The estimate could be adjusted as the markup value could be changed for reasons such as a discount being given for the materials on a job.
The 'Charge Rate' field defaults to the value set on the 'Company Information' form. This is the hourly charge rate that is included in the labor rate used to calculate rates on the 'Rates and Settings' form.
