Images can be added to your document in a choice of two different styles ('Word Wrap' or 'Inline') and can be inserted directly into the body of the document or on a 'image insert' page (see Using Image Templates for more info).
Note: Images that are inserted and re-sized in MSWord retain their original file size!! Ensure that the file or camera image you are using is the lowest possible size while maintaining sufficient image resolution. Larger images will increase the size of the completed document.
Inserting Images in the document:
Place your cursor on the document where you want the image to be inserted then choose the type of image to insert according to the styles available on the Insert Images menu selections from the Picture Drop toolbar.
Word Wrap File Image will resize, add borders and word wrap the image right in the paragraph where the cursor has been placed in the document. Use this selection when adding an image to a paragraph that contains the text relevant to the image.
Cover File Image will resize, add borders and position the image on a cover page already added to the document.
Inline File Image will resize the image and place it at the cursor position. The image will not be word-wrapped, but images can be placed side by side. This type of image is also used when adding multiple referenced images at the end of the document.
(See Photo) Cross-Reference adds an image to the next available image template file and create a cross-reference link at the cursor position (see Using Image Templates for more info).
(See Photo) Cross-Refer with caption adds an image to the next available image template file with a caption that includes the text from the sentence where the cursor is positioned, and create a cross-reference link at the cursor position (see Using Image Templates for more info).
Insert Cross-Reference Template inserts a new image template page in the document at the cursor position (see Using Image Templates for more info).
Images are formatted and resized as they are inserted according to the default settings specified on the Image Settings form. This form is available by selecting Format Image->Image Format Settings on the Picture Drop toolbar.
To apply default formatting to an image already inserted in the report, select the image by clicking on it with your mouse then choose the style (Word Wrap Style, Report Cover Centered Style or Inline Image Style) from the Format Image menu.
Any image can also be further resized or moved in the report by selecting the image and using the 'handles' to re-position the image.
Images can be further annotated using arrows, text boxes and other shapes by making the appropriate selection from the Format Image ->Annotate Highlight Image menu.
Using the Picture Drop Form:
The Quick Picture Drop form can also be used to insert images into the document. This tool is convenient as you can keep the form open on the top of the document and quickly insert or view images in your current image directory. See Using the Quick Picture Drop for more information on this topic.
